Summer is upon us.  Normally, our year would have ended with our last meeting in June.  This will not be a normal year for several reasons.  First, instead of going dark we will be meeting per our usual schedule through July and August.

Second, the level of interest of the Junior Officers, with the work they have done and continue to do, begets that we meet and work through the summer.  In the past, we have, “lost” several Brothers over the “dark” months.  Both Junior and Senior Officers feel that retention of members, work quality, and proficiency will steadily improve by not having a summer recess.  To this end, we now have two new lectures given by our Stewards, and have three Officers who have successfully completed the Grand Lodge Masonic Code, Course 1-5.

Third, we also have a new digital projector and slide presentation completed by the Audio-Visual Committee.  Our new equipment emphasizes the positive aspects and eliminates the disadvantages of the Grand Lodge DVD Presentation.  This is primarily for the EA Lecture, but we will use it for the MM Lecture augmented with the “props” we have used for the last several years.

Credit for our summer work will go on next year’s Grand Lodge Report, and will give us a boost in the fall when everybody else is just getting started again!   Our last meeting in June was “casual dress” consisting of shirt and slacks. This dress code will continue through July and August, as everyone attending enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.
