Welcome to Community Lodge #684

Master's Message

October/November/December 2011

Brethren of Community, it seems as though I just wrote my first Master’s Message for the Trestleboard and here I am composing my final message to the membership. I feel that Community has had a very eventful year since last November. We have developed a very enthusiastic, dedicated, and knowledgeable moving line of officers which has no Past Masters filling chairs. We have convened both a Stated and a Special Communication every month and did not “go dark” during the summer. At every Communication except one, we carried out Degree Work. Unfortunately the demographics of our membership are such that we are still losing more members than we are gaining. This situation will eventually stabilize and then reverse itself, but will require a number of years.

Our webpage has been updated by Br Eric Miglietti and I would encourage you all to visit it at www.community684.org . You may contact Br Miglietti for your password to access the members only section of this website. He will even set up an email address for you on our website. I am sure you will find this a great source for current Lodge information. In the future we are planning to send you the Trestleboard by email if you so desire thus saving us time and money.

We have broken with tradition and made some changes at Community in the way we ballot, the wearing of white gloves by officers, and the convening the first “Table Lodge of Instruction” in many years. Our “Table Lodge” was in June this year to coincide with the Festival of St John the Baptist. It was a great success! We had an excellent turnout and the Brethren seemed to enjoy the toasting, the singing, the meal, as well as the ritual. I am sure this will be continued in the future

The year was marred only by a confrontation with the Grand Lodge concerning the existence of our “Building Company” (CLBC). They feel that it should be disbanded because we no longer own a building and to protect against a “lack of Stewardship” leading to the “misappropriation of funds.” The Trustees of the CLBC and the Membership of the Lodge oppose this and we are now at a deadlock. Hopefully, a meeting with our new DDGM and our District Advisor on October 27th will solve this dilemma to the satisfaction of all concerned. The Brethren of Community shall be kept informed.

Fraternally,
Frank C Wright, WM
